New Labeling Regulation for Plan Protection Products
On May 27, 2026, Reg. (EU) 2026/1123 was introduced.
The regulation introduces new labeling requirements for PPP (Plant protection products).
The new framework aims to modernize hazard communication, improve access to product information, and align plant protection product labelling with recent developments under the CLP Regulation.
The new framework aims to modernize hazard communication, improve access to product information, and align plant protection product labelling with recent developments under the CLP Regulation by introducing a mandatory hybrid label system, requiring a physical tag and a QR code linking to a free, public online registry.
The Regulation also introduces a dedicated bee hazard pictogram and warning phrase for products considered hazardous to bees and other pollinators.
As a transitional measure, Regulation (EU) No 547/2011 will continue to apply to products authorized or renewed on the basis of applications submitted before January 1, 2028. However, all plant protection product labels must include a digital label by January 1, 2030.

Harmonization of Maximum Levels for Vitamins and Minerals
The European Commission has confirmed a revised timeline for the harmonization of minimum and maximum levels of vitamins and minerals added to foods and food supplements across the EU.
The initiative aims to address the current differences between national regulations and establish a harmonized framework for nutrient levels throughout the European market.
Due to ongoing scientific and political discussions involving Member States, EFSA and industry stakeholders, the project was delayed.
Key aspects still under discussion include:
- The methodology for setting safe maximum levels;
- Dietary intake modelling approaches;
- The distinction between fortified foods and food supplements.
According to the latest Commission update:
- Public consultation is expected in Q3 2026;
- Adoption of the final framework is planned for Q1 2028.
The future harmonized rules are expected to have a significant impact on product formulation, labelling requirements and market access for food business operators active across multiple Member States.

Call for evidence on Potential Restriction of Steelmaking and Iron Blast Furnace Slags
The Netherlands has launched a call for evidence to assess the need for a potential REACH restriction on steelmaking slags and iron blast furnace slags.
The initiative covers several types of slags, including Basic Oxygen Steelmaking (BOS), Electric Arc Furnace Carbon Steel (EAF-C), Electric Arc Furnace Stainless Steel (EAF-S), and iron blast furnace slags (ABS/GBS). The assessment aims to gather information on their potential risks to human health and the environment.
Authorities are seeking data on:
- Chemical composition and hazard properties;
- Environmental fate and behaviour;
- Current uses and exposure scenarios;
- Existing risk management measures;
- Available alternatives.
The information collected will support the evaluation of whether further regulatory action under REACH is necessary.
Stakeholders are invited to submit their contributions by July 8, 2026.
