Key Milestones in Our Journey Through Regulatory Toxicology

2001

In August 2001, Dr. Antonio Conto, with 13 years of experience in an Italian CRO, embraced the winds of innovation and founded Chemsafe. His vision was clear: to deliver exceptional technical-scientific support and regulatory services in the field of chemistry.

2006

Chemsafe’s reputation quickly soared, gaining recognition both in Italy and internationally. The foresight of its founder, who shared his expertise with a growing team, elevated the company’s consultancy services, setting new standards for excellence in regulatory science.

2010 - 2016

By its tenth anniversary, Chemsafe had significantly expanded its scope, extending its regulatory consultancy into the broader life sciences arena. In 2015, the company launched two dedicated Business Units, focusing on the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors, each led by seasoned Senior Scientists.

2018 - 2020

Chemsafe established the Medical Devices Business Unit in 2018 and the Food Regulation Unit shortly after, in 2020. These additions ensured the company could meet the demands of evolving regulations in these critical sectors. With a reputation for efficiency, reliability, and innovation, Chemsafe solidified its role as a regulatory leader across Europe.

2024 - Today

2024 marks a year of significant milestones for Chemsafe’s global expansion. The establishment of the Agro/Biocides Business Unit reinforced the company’s expertise in key sectors, while the launch of Chemsafe USA strategically positioned the company to better serve United States services. This new entity provides U.S. regulatory expertise for chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare products, strengthening Chemsafe’s ability to support EU and global clients in navigating diverse regulatory frameworks. Backed by trusted partners and an extensive network of international collaborators and laboratories, Chemsafe remains dedicated to delivering top-tier regulatory solutions worldwide, with its sights set on new horizons and a growing presence in the Americas.

A biologist and registered in the European Register of Toxicologists (ERT), Dr Antonio Conto began his journey in regulatory affairs in 2001 by founding ChemSafe, after 13 years of experience in an Italian toxicology CRO. To date, he has published more than 100 articles in the regulatory field in numerous specialised journals.

Graduated in Political Science, Dr Emanuela Fino joined ChemSafe in 2008 after 23 years of experience in an international credit organization. Today, she holds the Chief Financial Officer position in personnel and corporate responsibility management.

Francesca has a solid background in chemistry with a BSc in industrial chemistry, a BSc in chemistry and a PhD in analytical chemistry, and in 2023 she obtained an Executive MBA degree. Between 2006 and 2010, she carried out research as a guest worker at the US EPA in Athens (GA) and at the University of Turin and the IZSPLV.

Since 2011, she has been working at ChemSafe on agro/biocide projects. In 2015, Francesca became Head of the Agro/biocide BU and in 2020 Head of the Chemicals BU, which deals with consultancy in the area of REACh, CLP, Biocides, Agrochemicals and Fertilisers regulations.
