OELS determination and safety occupational classification

It's becoming more and more stringent, particularly for pharmaceutical companies that handle or manufacture HPAI (High Potency Active Ingredients), to set an internal policy in order to assigne specific OELs (Occupational Exposure Levels) for each handled substance.

A multidisciplinary work is necessary to set a suitable policy; the process involves the Medical Doctor, The responsible for safety, an expert in regulatory matters and a industrila toxicologist who is able to evaluate the toxicity of the substance and to calculate, on the basis of the possible exposure scenarios, the possible risks for professional operators.

Many methods and calculation approach are proposed by different reference institution. The company needs to evaluate which method is more suitable for its own industrial operations and decide to adopt it after having added the every possible modification if suitable.
